As great as it would be to solve our problems with that simple suggestion, it is not as simple as that. Yes, it is true polar bears use that as a hunting platform, but let's think about the real reason polar bears are out there. It is a delicate balance of the food chain. The bears eat the seals, the seals eat the fish, the fish eat the plankton, the plankton eat the small organisms that live under the sea ice. Let me repeat that, "the plankton eat the small organisms that live under the sea ice." If the sea ice disappears, the food chain collapses. So truly, the root of the problem lays within our ability to reverse the effects of co2. |
